Why early intervention matters.

🧠 50%

More neural connections exist in a child's brain than in an adult's — the optimal window for rewiring and learning.¹

⏱️ 3yrs

The first three years of life are when the brain is most plastic — the critical window when early therapy has its greatest impact.²

Children who received early intervention services did not later present with a disability — or require special education services.³

CP prevalence in Africa can be up to 10 per 1,000 live births — higher than global norms — making specialist paediatric physiotherapy vital in SA.

About Yvonne

A career devoted to children's
neurological wellbeing.

With over 30 years of clinical experience, Yvonne Luiz has built a practice founded on deep expertise, warm compassionate care, and an unwavering commitment to the children and families she serves.

After graduating with her BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1992, she developed foundational skills across ICU and general ward settings before channelling her passion into paediatric neurology — the field that has defined her career.

The start of her private practice was with 2 specialities within physiotherapy - Neurology (paediatric and adult) and Musculoskeletal Therapy

Over the last 15 years, her practice has evolved into a fully dedicated Paediatric Neurology physiotherapy practice in Boksburg, providing specialised assessment and treatment for children with a wide range of neurological and developmental challenges.

Yvonne has also mentored 12 physiotherapists over the years, many of whom have gone on to lead departments and establish their own practices in South Africa, Canada, and New Zealand.
